Evert Nijland — artist and jewellery designer
Evert Nijland’s work exists between jewellery and sculpture. Historical references, organic structures and carefully constructed forms come together in objects that feel both ancient and unfamiliar.
SPACE JUNK works with Evert to translate ideas into digital studies, physical prototypes and production-ready forms.
The aim is not simply to reproduce a sketch or make the process faster. It is to introduce new tools without removing the irregularity, tension and material character that make the work unmistakably his.

Translation of drawings and studies into a collection of more than 20 pieces of contemporary jewellery realized in silver, gold, glass and steel through digital modeling, prototyping and physical refinement.

The Wilhelminaring is the national lifetime achievement award that has been awarded every two years since 1998 to a Dutch visual artist over the age of fifty. The prize consists of a ring specially designed for the winner. Evert Nijland was chosen to design the award for the winner in 2023, Henk Visch,

Translating of drawings and studies into a collection of 9 jewellery pieces, including brooches and necklaces. Realized in silver, aluminum, leather, glass, mother of pearl, steel and glass beads.

It’s a special time when we get to work on a new series of work. We’re looking forward to the final results.
We begin with conversations, sketches, material samples and unfinished ideas.
Together, we identify what is essential to the work: the proportion and weight of a structure, the position of a stone, the depth of a cavity, the relationship between rigid and organic elements, and the irregularities that allow the object to remain alive.
SPACE JUNK translates those intentions into three-dimensional studies that Evert can respond to, challenge and refine.
The digital model is not treated as a finished answer. It becomes a shared space for testing the idea.
